New York Comic Con Hits Record Attendance

With over 130,000 visitors, the 2013 edition of the New York Comic Con has brought the east coast pop and culture celebration to the same size as the older Comic-Con International in San Diego.  Over the course of four days, thousands of fans of comics culture packed Manhattan’s Jacob Javits Center to shop, enjoy seminars, panels, and previews, meet their favorite comics creators, and to show off their costume-making skills.

The line to enter the Jacob Javits Center on Saturday, the busiest day, stretched up to 40th Street.

“Over the years, the New York Comic Con has become an essential part of my calendar,” says Grand Design Communications’ David Bernstein.  “The Comic Con is now on par with other important events in the world of graphic novel and comic book publishing like Comic Con International in San Diego and the Frankfurt Book Fair.  It’s a one-stop-shop for me, where I can meet with publishers I’ve been talking to all year, scout for potential clients and freelance talent for our Comics Production Services, and meet with existing artistic and business partners.  Plus, there are some really amazing displays from comics, toy, and video game companies and some of the cosplayers just have to be seen to be believed.”
