Roy Thomas to write new X-Men story for 50th Anniversary issue

Legendary writer/editor Roy Thomas will contribute a story to X-Men: Gold, a special comic book to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of Marvel’s mutant franchise.   Thomas had two memorable runs as writer on X-Men, taking over from Stan Lee with issue 20.  He had a hand in the creation of two mainstay X-Men characters:  In issue 28, Thomas and artist Werner Roth introduced the sonic-powered Irish mutant Banshee, and during his legendary late 1960’s run with artist Neal Adams, introduced Havok, giving a superhero persona to the Alex Summers character created by Arnold Drake and Don Heck.  Other past X-Men writers including Chris Claremont and Stan Lee will contribute to X-Men: Gold.
