KATUSHA Wins Silver Medal From Military Writers Society of America

Wayne Vansant’s epic graphic novel Katusha: Girl Soldier of the Great Patriotic War was awarded the Silver Medal on September 19, 2020 The Military Writers Society of America (MWSA). The award was announced at MWSA’s General Membership Conference, via live Zoom/Facebook broadcast.

Wayne Vansant is one of the foremost graphic novelists on topics of military history. Starting on Marvel Comics groundbreaking 1980s Vietnam war comic book, The ‘Nam, Vansant has gone on to create fiction and non-fiction graphic novels covering every major American conflict of the 20th century, and many other time periods and places. His non-fiction books such as The Red Baron, Bombing Nazi Germany, and The Battle of the Bulge have been praised by educators and historians. He is currently working on a brand new series, Battron, an ongoing series of full color graphic novels featuring Vansant’s French Foreign Legionnaire. Battron was first introduced in 1992 in a three-issue black & white mini-series published by New England Comics, which was later collected by Caliber Comics and is available on their website and from digital retailers.
